Contemporary Dance Festival - 3rd edition
A Caranas 108 project within Co.R.D.I.S iniziatives (In cooperation with Carovana S.M.I.)

The third edition of the biennial dance festival MovimentInTempo will take place in Cagliari from February 15th to February 20th. As highlighted by the subheading, this year the festival will have an international character, hosting both Sardinian productions and performances of young Slovenian artists, with the aim of creating a space for exchange and confrontation in contemporary choreographic creation.

Since ancient times the gateway of the Balkans and a bridge between the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe, in the past few years Slovenia witnessed the development of a lively artistic community. Inspired by the metamorphosis of their own country and by the contacts with the artistic communities of cities like London, Vienna, Brussels and Amsterdam, young Slovenian dancers set up an animated and diversified production, as confirmed in 2003 by the first edition of the Slovene Dance Festival. Today Ljubljana is one of Europe's cultural capitals, with a cultural centre of continental relevance, Cankarjev Dom, and a large number of galleries, theatres and production centres.

As did Sardinia, Slovenia also witnessed the "round trip" of its young dancers, who after accomplishing important training and professional experiences abroad came back to their country and developed an aesthetics of their own within the European scene while at the same time dedicating to the social and historical vicissitudes of Slovenia.

MovimentInTempo (MIT festival) is a project cultural association Caranas 108 within the initiatives promoted by Co.R.D.I.S. (Regional Dance Coordination Programme in Sardinia). In this edition the festival intersects with the activities of the association Carovana S.M.I., with which it organizes the meeting An education to dance and to choreographic creation where with artists and organizers from both Sardinia and Slovenia will meet to define a pedagogical course and pedagogical strategies for the development and the promotion of contemporary dance creation.

The association Carovana S.M.I is also organizing the meetings ProDanza - Exchange of experience for the promotion of contemporary dance in the Mediterranean area.
